Our two galleries in Swakopmund

See the stones in daylight, try pieces on, and talk to a gemmologist. Both galleries are in the centre of Swakopmund.

Before you come

  • Seen a piece online? Reserve it and tell us which gallery; we will have it ready.
  • Ask about a stone's origin and any treatment. We tell you what we know before you buy.
  • Flying home? Ask for the itemised invoice for customs, or let us ship it with DHL.
  • Shopping tax-free: we fill in your VAT refund card, and you claim the Namibian VAT back at the airport or port where you leave the country, under NamRA rules. Keep the piece in your hand luggage: Customs needs to see it before you check in.

Tax-free shopping

Tax-free shopping for visitors

We fill in your VAT refund card when you buy. You then claim the 15% Namibian VAT back when you leave the country, under NamRA rules.

  • Who can claim: visitors who do not hold a Namibian passport. Holders of Namibian permanent residence, work or study visas cannot claim.
  • Minimum: purchases worth more than N$250, including VAT.
  • Keep it in your hand luggage: Customs must see the piece and stamp your invoice before you check in. No inspection, no refund.
  • Where: at the VAT refund offices at Walvis Bay Airport (the nearest to Swakopmund) and Hosea Kutako International Airport. At other exit points, Customs takes your claim on a VAT 16 or VAT 17 form.
  • Fees: the refund office deducts an administration fee (published as 1% of the claim, at least N$15 and at most N$500) and any bank charges.
  • Allow time: arrive at the airport early; the claim takes a while.

This summary is based on published guidance and is for convenience only. Rules and fees can change, so please check the current requirements with the VAT refund office before you travel.
