2. Prices and orders
Prices are in Namibian Dollars (NAD) and include VAT at 15%. Delivery costs are shown at checkout before you pay. You can review and correct your order before placing it. We may decline or cancel an order, for example if a price or description was shown in error, and we will refund any payment in full if we do. Colours of gemstones and metals can look different on screen.
3. Conditions of sale (as printed on every tax invoice)
1. Change of mind: No change-of-mind refunds, returns or exchanges are permitted. Please choose carefully.
2. Voetstoots sale (as-is waiver): In terms of Namibian common law, pre-owned, clearance and antique items are sold strictly VOETSTOOTS — as they stand, with all faults, whether latent or patent. By signing below the buyer waives the aedilitian remedies, being the right to cancel the sale (actio redhibitoria) and the right to claim a reduction in price (actio quanti minoris), in respect of wear, gem inclusions or pre-existing conditions.
3. Manufacturing defects: The voetstoots waiver above does not extend to a verified manufacturing defect in a NEW item. Where such a defect is verified we will repair or replace the item.
4. International return logistics: We are unable to coordinate shipping from foreign countries. Any return transit for appraisal, repair or evaluation must be arranged, booked and funded by the customer. Where a manufacturing defect is verified we will reimburse reasonable, documented return postage. Original delivery fees, foreign-currency conversion fees and customs duties are not refundable.
5. Complete terms: These conditions incorporate our full Terms of Sale by reference, available at https://www.aajewell.com.na/terms.
Warranty periods are set out in our Refund & Warranty Policy.
Purchases made on this website: in addition to the conditions above, the 7-day online return in our Refund & Warranty Policy applies to unworn stock items bought online.
4. Custom and made-to-order work
This quotation is valid for 14 days from the date of issue. After this period, prices are subject to review based on current gold, platinum and gemstone market rates. Prices are quoted in Namibian Dollars (NAD) inclusive of VAT at 15%.
Deposit — custom & made-to-order work. A deposit is required before we begin your commissioned or made-to-order piece. Because this work is produced specifically to your specification, your deposit is non-refundable and secures the materials, labour and workshop time reserved for your order. Once work has commenced it will not be reversed, revoked or disputed via chargeback for change-of-mind reasons. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have under Namibian law.
5. Items held from stock
Deposit — item held from stock. The item listed from stock is held for you once your deposit is paid. This deposit is refundable until work on the item begins.
6. Repairs
A deposit may be required prior to commencement of work. All deposits are strictly non-refundable. Final payment is due upon collection.
African Art Jewellers takes reasonable care of all items lodged for repair; however we accept no liability for pre-existing damage, latent faults, or inherent weaknesses in stones or settings that may become apparent during the repair process.
Items not collected within 6 months of notification of completion will be considered abandoned. African Art Jewellers reserves the right to dispose of or sell uncollected items after this period to recover costs, in accordance with applicable Namibian legislation.
Our liability is limited to the cost of the repair service. We strongly recommend insuring high-value items prior to lodgment.
7. Valuations
1. Purpose and basis: This valuation states our professional opinion of the item's replacement value for insurance purposes as at the date of issue. It is not an offer to purchase, and it does not represent a resale, auction, second-hand or forced-sale value.
2. Market conditions: Precious metal and gemstone markets move. This valuation is valid as at the date of issue and should be reviewed every two to three years, or after any significant market movement.
3. Basis of examination: The item was examined in its mounted state using standard gemmological equipment. Where a stone cannot be removed from its setting, weights and clarity grades are estimated and are stated as such. No destructive testing was performed.
4. Reliance: This valuation is prepared for the named client only. We accept no liability to any third party who relies on it, nor for any loss arising from its use for a purpose other than that stated above.
8. Identification (Financial Intelligence Act)
This business is a registered Accountable Institution under Schedule 1 of the Namibian Financial Intelligence Act, No. 13 of 2012 (FIA). In terms of Section 21 of the Act we are legally required to establish and verify the identity of any client engaging in a single transaction, or multiple related transactions, valued at N$10,000.00 or more. Goods will not be released until valid identification (Namibian National Identity Card or passport) and proof of residential address are verified. Splitting a purchase into smaller payments to avoid this threshold is prohibited; related transactions are aggregated. Suspicious transactions are reported to the Namibian Financial Intelligence Centre. Personal information is processed in line with applicable Namibian law and retained for a minimum of five (5) years to satisfy FIA record-keeping obligations.
